Why are there not more virtual options?

After extensive review and consideration of numerous conference proposals, we made the decision to offer only in-person workshops for this year's IFS conference, with the exception of live streaming the keynote presentations.

The decision to forgo hybrid workshops this year was challenging. As we carefully weighed the experiential nature of our in-person workshops, we contemplated how this experiential element would translate for our participants attending virtually from their homes. Ultimately, we determined that virtual attendance for experiential in-person workshops would not provide a desired learning experience for our participants or presenters.

We acknowledge that our decision regarding the IFS Conference is not what many in the IFS Community were hoping for. This year marks the beginning of an exciting journey as we're building a now 6-person Curriculum and Learning Programs team at IFSI. The focus of this team is on developing diverse and inclusive IFS learning programs. This will include more in-person and virtual events, conferences, and digital learning courses beginning in 2024.

We hear those who are looking for more virtual options and also want to share that the 2024 IFS Annual Conference will again be FULLY virtual. We will return to in-person conference offerings again in 2025.

We can't wait for you to connect and learn with us.

What should I wear to the Annual Conference?

We encourage attendees to embrace a relaxed yet professional dress code at the conference, ranging from business casual to casual attire. For workshops that incorporate movement sessions, we recommend wearing clothing that allows for ease of movement and comfort, suitable for active participation. Please ensure that your chosen attire allows you to fully engage in the workshop activities without restrictions, promoting an optimal learning and experiential environment.

As the venue temperature may vary from workshop to workshop, we recommend dressing in layers. This will allow you to adjust your clothing according to your personal comfort and the specific climate within each session.

Remember, the focus is on engaging with fellow attendees, gaining knowledge, and enjoying a productive conference experience. Feel free to express your personal style while prioritizing comfort and the specific requirements of movement-based workshops.

What is the "Global Majority"

Global Majority is a collective term that encourages us to recognize that together, those of African, Asian, Latin American, and Arab descent along with Indigenous people from around the world comprise the vast majority of people worldwide. Global Majority is not meant to be male-centric or heteronormative. Understanding this truth has the power to disrupt and reframe our conversations on race.
